An accident on Route 59 has claimed the life of a Bartlett man. He was driving a passenger vehicle when a large piece of frozen dirt came out of the trailer on a truck and went through his windshield. A similar accident in 1994 on Route 59 also resulted in a fatality.

The man sustained head and brain injuries which proved fatal.

One of the responsibilities that truckers have is to ensure that their loads are secure. When the load includes something such as earth or other loose materials, that requires the trucker to use a tarp to keep the load from leaving the trailer.

If a trucker’s load comes loose, it places nearby motorists at risk as they run the risk of running into the loose items at high speeds or of taking otherwise unnecessary sudden evasive actions which came put them in other lanes of traffic.
