About 217,000 Graco cribs have been recalled. Federal safety officials advised that this is due to a malfunction that can entrap, suffocate or strangle infants and toddlers. In fact, one child died.
The so-called "drop side" wood cribs were made by manufacturer LaJobi and were branded with the Graco logo. They were made and sold between February 2007 and March 2010.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission and LaJobi received nearly one hundred complaints about the faulty drop side.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop use of the cribs and to contact LaJobi’s recall hotline at 888-842-2215 for a free hardware retrofit kit. You can also get more information from the US CPSC at 800-638-2772 or Graco at 888-842-2215.
