A massive recall of over-the-counter liquid medications for infants and children was recently announced.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises that families should stop using the products as they may contain “tiny particles.” Still, others may have too much active ingredients or even inactive ingredients that fail to meet specifications.
According the manufacturer as well as federal officials, however, the potential for serious medical problems was “remote.”
Some doctors say that there is no reason to doubt the safety of generic versions of the drugs. Parents should contact their children’s medical providers for further information and advice.
