For those of you lucky enough to get out of the cold for Spring Break, you might want to take a minute to review some water safety tips, as it likely has been awhile since you’ve been outside for a swim.

Tropical weather expert Dr. Steve Lyons has put together a Top 10 list of water safety tips to help ensure spring breakers safety when hitting the beach.

1- Never swim alone

2- Don’t exceed your capability in the water

3- Check for warning flags

4- Watch water and waves

5- Yell for help

6- Remain calm

7- Don’t be a hero

8- Again, ask for help

9- Watch the waves

10- Think before you jump
