Motorcycle cop injured in action

Comments Off

A Tulsa police officer was injured while pursuing a fleeing motorist when another driver failed to stop for the siren and flashing lights and pulled into an intersection in front of him. He hit the rear bumper of the car and flipped over.

He suffered numerous injuries, including a fracured collarbone, a fractured tailbone, multiple rib fractures, and road rash.

Every motorist has the obligation to stop and pull to the side for emergency vehicles with sirens and lights activated. In Illinois, there are enhanced criminal penalties for causing injuries as a result of the failure to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles. Because emergency calls require police and firemen to respond at high rates of speed the potential for injury is serious.
