Comments Off

In Gulfport, Illinois there was a recent head-on collision between a tractor-trailer and a car. The collision took place after the car crossed over the center line. The truck burst into flames after the collision. The driver of the car was arrested for drunk driving.

The truck driver suffered severe burns as a result of the accident.

People who are injured as a result of injuries sustained due to the intoxication of another can not only sue the intoxicated driover, but also any licensed establishment which contributed to the intoxication of the wrongdoer.

The statute which permits this is the Illinois Dram Shop Act. It allows recovery against the dram shop for injuries sustained up to a statutory limit which is adjusted annually. The current limit is approximately $65,000.
